ABOUT ME

“ It’s not ‘us versus them’ or even ‘us on behalf of them’. For a designer it has to be ‘us with them’ ” — Tim Brown, President of IDEO.
I believe that design isn't merely a solution—it's a process, a fundamental need, a pathway to progress, and an instrument for inclusive change. My philosophy, 'Design Democracy: Design is of, by, and for the people,' asserts that designers should advocate inclusive progress. This belief shaped my academic and professional journey, nurtured a user-centric perspective, revealing the profound impact of human-centered design.
Who am I?
My Background
Hello! I'm Ishita Kohli - a designer with a background in architecture and urban planning from Mumbai, India, hoping to further my career in the design space as an Interaction/UX designer and researcher.
With a culturally diverse background, I have developed a unique perspective of the world. I learned that everyone has a story to tell, and it's important to be open to change and fresh ideas. I received my Bachelor of Architecture and worked as an architect for 2 years at DIG Architects & Broadway Malyan wherein I developed empathy towards users who try to understand the complex nature of spaces we design as architects.
Reflecting on my architectural experiences, I enjoy storytelling, user-contextual analysis, feedback-driven iteration, and collaborative problem-solving. Since human-centered design and human computer interaction celebrates these elements similarly, it felt like a natural progression for me. Here, I leverage my skills to unravel everyday user challenges and provide them with delightful experiences and solutions.
Design Values
My Core Values
I am dedicated to social responsibility, emphasizing human-centered, technologically-aided, accessible, ethical, and culturally-rooted design to address the needs of marginalized communities in the education, sustainability, and healthcare realm.
